SO i was working the other night and some drug addicted man comes in and orders him self a drink and proceeds to have a full on conversation with him self at this point i am starting to question my co-workers guy, after about 40 minutes he starts up his stuff, he hadn’t eating any thing since hed been there and just drank his coffee, so i wave him over and ask him if hes hungry he nodds and says yes, so i go and make him a burger and bring it to him he then takes it and says to me that i am the nicest person hes ever had serve him any where and that i should stay and school and get the best education i can possible get, he then says that i can and will go places with my life and that i wont end up like him. he the continues to tell me that if i ever need any thing to ask him and that he will get it for me,
This really showed me that been nice to people and treating them with respect will get you places with you life, i already knew this but just having this happen to me really made me feel that i was privileged to have what i have and not be suffering from an addiction like that.

That is a really good story. It does show you that if you are nice to people they will return the favour. Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Most people will judge others so quickly and not give them a chance to get to know them.

Its amazing how often these individuals do not get treated like people. Taking the time to talk to someone who is often marginlized in society by the majority. Helping out in homeless shelters you can have some of the most honest conversations with people who think they can’t teach you anything, but their stories and honesty will provide you with powerful messages. Good on you Andrew… share this story tomorrow.

That’s really cool and i agree with your heading, it is an eye opener! I’ve actually had something like this happen to me too. I was with my mom, aunt, brother and cousin in the car, and on the side of the road there was a grungy looking man holding a sign. I can’t remember what the sign said, but my aunt stopped and she dug in her purse, took out a tooney and told me to give it to him. My mom was like “oh Lillian don’t tell her to do that,” and my aunt was like “go on Felishia go it’s fine,” so i did. I knew it was a nice thing to do so i ignored my mom, haha. When i gave it to him he took my hand in his and said “god bless you, thank you so much.” And i felt really good after that. I walked back to the car smiling and told them what he had said to me. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so appreciated in my life. It’s amazing how such a little thing can bring so much insight to you and the other person. I know not all “bums” purposely made their life like that or are ungrateful moochers, and i hope they know that not everyone walking by is selfish.
